The Sans Pareil

There are certain expectations when encountering bands featuring acoustic guitar and violin. The Sans Pareil (previously known as Pariah) are taking this cliché expectation, chewing it up and spitting it all over audiences around London now.

The ever-expanding band comprising of Tomb - gitarr und vokulls, Germ - violun und vokulls, Puke- drummmms and Void- gitarr, started out as a pair of KIAD art students. As well as being driven by visual art, deeply depressing literature, alcohol and drugs, their prior experience as youths in hardcore/noise bands has been carried all this way leading to an unforgiving expression of sorrow and raw energy, just like the old days.

Their live show makes you feel exposed somehow, like a big ball of raw nerve-endings. There’s not much hiding behind distortion unless it’s violin through a vintage amplifier, the lyrics are as clear and sharp as daylight (”I’ve got no money so I’ve got no joy”, repeat many times) and the physical stage show is as much about the foot-banging and off-mic shouting as anything else.

Skiffle, Country, Noise, Doom, Folk, Shouting… very exhilarating stuff.
Book this band for your party.. they might do it for a crate of beer!
