1983 Islington Squatter Punk Documentary

Note the narration tone resembling a wildlife documentary.

Your Debut Album (an internet-based game)

Came across this stupid but funny game. It’s like a better version of ‘your porn star name’.

My debut album… ready?

The Sans Pareil

There are certain expectations when encountering bands featuring acoustic guitar and violin. The Sans Pareil (previously known as Pariah) are taking this cliché expectation, chewing it up and spitting it all over audiences around London now.

The ever-expanding band comprising of Tomb - gitarr und vokulls, Germ - violun und vokulls, Puke- drummmms and Void- gitarr, started out as a pair of KIAD art students. As well as being driven by visual art, deeply depressing literature, alcohol and drugs, their prior experience as youths in hardcore/noise bands has been carried all this way leading to an unforgiving expression of sorrow and raw energy, just like the old days.

Their live show makes you feel exposed somehow, like a big ball of raw nerve-endings. There’s not much hiding behind distortion unless it’s violin through a vintage amplifier, the lyrics are as clear and sharp as daylight (”I’ve got no money so I’ve got no joy”, repeat many times) and the physical stage show is as much about the foot-banging and off-mic shouting as anything else.

Skiffle, Country, Noise, Doom, Folk, Shouting… very exhilarating stuff.
Book this band for your party.. they might do it for a crate of beer!

Bill Ambrose

Ambrose is an East London producer, DJ, musician, remix artist and engineer. He is one third of the New Europeans trio with track-writing/synth duties in the studio and a drummer for their live sets. He also works as engineer for the well-loved DJ Fonteyn amongst others, with the tough job of turning their frontline observations and wild imaginations into the physical product.

Bill’s strength is in his ability to observe his extensive record collection of disco, techno, house.. filter it through his passionate understanding to the secret fundamentals of an infectious groove and realises new and wonderful pieces through his beautiful analogue synth studio.

He is also the most entertaining dancers ever! Must be seen :)

Right! (rolls sleeves up..)

For so long I’ve wanted to turn this slurry of brain-spill into a worthwhile blog about music. In all honesty, I don’t feel good about reviewing albums or concerts I’ve attended, of which there are already so many good blogs doing so. What I can offer is an introduction to the things I find within the crevices of my small but rather wholesome social experience in London.

I attend waay more shows than I can afford and spend many a late night meeting amazing, talented people who quite often give me demos and insightful information. I’m going to share some of this and, according to my new Google Analytics account, people from all over the world are reading!

I’m not getting older :(

My little brother asks via IM whether I like an emo band called 30 Seconds to Mars.

Erm…

Probably the most concise story of what actually happened. Very insightful, but only available for a few days!
